On this Koh Ker and Boeng Mealea Private Tour, you’ll leave your hotel at 8:00am and drive for about two and a half hours through beautiful countryside. You’ll see real rural Cambodia where farmers work in rice fields and kids play along the road.

When you reach Koh Ker, you’ll step back in time to the 10th century when this was a capital city of the Khmer Empire. Now it’s mostly covered by jungle! You can climb to the top of the main pyramid temple for awesome views of the forest. Your guide will then take you to Prasat Krahom (the “Red Temple”) known for its sandstone carvings and Prasat Pram where huge trees with snake-like roots grow over the temple buildings.

After lunch, you’ll take a short drive to Boeng Mealea temple. This place is super cool! It was cut off from the outside world during Cambodia’s civil war and controlled by the Khmer Rouge for many years. Now it’s safe to visit, and you’ll see one of the biggest temples outside the main Angkor area. Parts of it are in great shape, while other sections have been totally taken over by jungle. Huge tree roots wrap around doorways and climb up walls!

Boeng Mealea looks a bit like Angkor Wat but with only one tower instead of five. The best part? You won’t have to fight crowds to take great pictures!
