Start your 8 days in Cambodia in Phnom Penh, continue to Kampot on the southern coast, and then enjoy island time on Koh Rong or Koh Rong Sanloem. Arrival in Phnom Penh by international flight, bus, or private overland transfer. Guests arriving from Ho Chi Minh City may also book Journey Cambodia’s Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh bus service as a convenient cross-border option, with direct service and scheduled daily departures.
Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, meet and transfer to the guest’s chosen accommodation. The rest of the day is free at leisure.

Guests travel from Kampot to Koh Rong or Koh Rong Sanloem via Sihanoukville. They may choose either a private minivan transfer or a train journey from Kampot to Sihanoukville, followed by transfer to the pier and speedboat to the island.
Train option – recommended
The train is a very pleasant option with better views along the route and a smooth journey without road traffic interruptions. We organize a transfer from the guest’s hotel or resort in Kampot to Kampot Railway Station, and upon arrival in Sihanoukville, we arrange transfer from Sihanoukville Railway Station to the tourist port for the speedboat to Koh Rong or Koh Rong Sanloem.
The planned train schedule is departure from Kampot at 11:15 AM and arrival in Sihanoukville at 1:30 PM, after which guests continue by transfer to the pier to catch the speedboat to the island.
Minivan option
Guests who prefer a direct road transfer may choose the minivan option from Kampot to Sihanoukville Port before boarding the speedboat to Koh Rong or Koh Rong Sanloem. This option is convenient and flexible, while the train is generally better suited to travelers who prefer scenery and a more relaxed ride.
Please note: train schedules and speedboat connections are subject to seasonal and operational changes, so final departure times should be reconfirmed at the time of booking.
Koh Rong or Koh Rong Sanloem – Flexible island stay
Guests are free to book a longer hotel or resort stay on Koh Rong or Koh Rong Sanloem if they wish to spend more time on the islands. Extending the island stay by 1, 2, or 3 additional nights does not change the organization or base price of this package, provided that guests clearly include their preferred island dates in the booking notes at checkout and also confirm the details directly with our office by email so all transfer dates and timings can be arranged correctly.
After the morning speedboat from Koh Rong or Koh Rong Sanloem to Sihanoukville, guests continue by private transfer to Phnom Penh city, Phnom Penh International Airport, or another onward destination in Cambodia. For travelers who wish to extend their journey, this package can also connect with Journey Cambodia’s Phnom Penh to Temple of Angkor tour, creating a longer Cambodia itinerary that combines the capital, coast, islands, and Angkor region.
Extension option: guests who stay longer in Cambodia may continue on Day 8 or Day 9 with our Phnom Penh to Temple of Angkor tour package, making this a natural extension from southern Cambodia to Siem Reap and the Angkor temples.
This 8 Days in Cambodia package is a private transport-based trip from Phnom Penh to Kampot and then to Koh Rong or Koh Rong Sanloem. Hotels and resorts are not included, so guests are free to book the stay they prefer.
On Day 1, guests may arrive in Phnom Penh by flight, bus, or private overland transfer. Guests coming from Ho Chi Minh City may also book our Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh bus service as a simple way to join 8 Days in Cambodia.
On Day 5, guests travel from Kampot to Koh Rong or Koh Rong Sanloem via Sihanoukville. They may choose either a minivan transfer or the train from Kampot to Sihanoukville. The train is the suggested option for guests who want better views and a smooth ride. If guests choose the train, we organize transfer from their hotel or resort in Kampot to Kampot train station, then from Sihanoukville train station to the port for the speedboat.
For the island stay in 8 Days in Cambodia, guests may choose Koh Rong or Koh Rong Sanloem. If they want to stay longer on the island, they are free to add 1, 2, or 3 more days. The package organization and base price do not change. Guests only need to write the correct island stay dates in the booking notes at checkout and also send the same dates directly to our office by email at info@journeycambodia.com so all transfer timing can be arranged correctly.
On Day 8, guests return by speedboat to Sihanoukville and then continue by private transfer to Phnom Penh city, Phnom Penh Airport, or another destination in Cambodia. If guests need a flight from Phnom Penh, it is safe to book a flight after 4:30 PM when taking the 06:30 AM speedboat. If their flight is after 6:30 PM, they may also choose the later speedboat at 08:45 AM or 09:30 AM.
Guests who want to stay longer in Cambodia after 8 Days in Cambodia may also connect on Day 8 or Day 9 with the Phnom Penh to Temple of Angkor package. This works well with Journey Cambodia’s wider private and tailor-made travel options across Cambodia.
General note: speedboat schedules should always be treated as indicative and reconfirmed before travel, because public departure times can vary by operator and by island pier, especially on morning services from Koh Rong and Koh Rong Sanloem.
