Day 1: Arrival Siem Reap.

Upon arrival at Siem Reap airport you will be met by a representative holding a Journey Cambodia sign with your name on it (not a hotel sign) and transferred to your hotel.

This evening let’s explore Siem Reap, Cambodia’s tourism jewel and gateway to the majestic Angkor Wat. This vibrant town offers a perfect blend of ancient wonders and modern charm. Wander through the colorful Old Market, a treasure trove of local crafts and delicious Cambodian street food.

As night falls, experience traditional Khmer culture with a shadow puppet show while savoring fish amok, Cambodia’s national dish. From bustling Pub Street to serene Tonle Sap Lake, Siem Reap tours promise unforgettable adventures for every traveler.

Day 2: Siem Reap/Grand Circuit Temple 

Start your day at 8:00 AM with a visit to Pre Rup, a stunning Hindu temple built in 961 AD, showcasing impressive brick and sandstone architecture. Next, explore Banteay Srei, known for its intricate carvings and considered one of Cambodia’s finest temples. This gem became accessible in the late 1990s, revealing its beauty to visitors.

Continue to Neak Pean, an artificial island temple in Jayatataka Baray, then head to Preah Khan. This atmospheric site, commissioned by Jayavarman VII, features a captivating mix of tree roots and ancient stones, currently undergoing restoration by the World Monument Fund. Conclude your day with a return to Siem Reap after an enriching exploration of these historical treasures.

Day 3:  Siem Reap/Angkor Wat Sunrise 

Begin your day pre-dawn at Angkor Wat for a breathtaking sunrise. Enter from the less-visited eastern side and enjoy the serene atmosphere as you walk through cloistered corridors adorned with the world’s longest bas-relief carvings.

After a thorough two-hour guided tour of Angkor Wat, including its central chambers and upper terraces, enjoy breakfast outside the temple.

Next, visit Ta Prohm, famous for its jungle-clad ruins reminiscent of its rediscovery in the 1850s. Continue to Angkor Thom, passing the Terrace of the Leper King and Terrace of Elephants before arriving at Bayon Temple, known for its towering faces. Finally, explore the peaceful ambiance of Angkor Archaeological Park before returning to your hotel.

Day 4: Tonle Sap Lake & Battambang

At 8:00 AM, depart for Tonle Sap Lake, the second-largest freshwater lake globally. Experience its unique ecosystem on a private boat tour of floating villages like Chhong Kneas or Kampong Pluk.

After exploring Tonle Sap, travel three hours to Battambang, Cambodia’s second-largest city. Enjoy a relaxing riverside walk to admire colonial architecture and visit the local market, immersing yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this charming city.

Day 5:  Battambang

This morning take a short drive to the ancient temple of Ek Phnom, stop a local rice paper making village along the way for a glimpse of daily life. Ek Phnom is a partly collapsed 11th Century temple and features some impressive and intricate carvings. A short drive will then take you to Phnom Sampeau where halfway to the summit you will visit the Killing Caves of Phnom Sampow. This site was used a killing ground during the Khmer Rouge regime. Continue to the summit which is now home to an impressive modern day pagoda, take in the breathtaking views of rural Cambodia. You will then continue to Sampow Mountain, where you’ll visit the Bat Cave. After hiking to the top of the mountain, take in the stunning views and prepare to watch thousands of bats fly out of the cave at sunset – a truly unforgettable sight!

Day 6:  Phnom Penh

Today, travel to Battambang by private minibus. Visit the pottery workshop in Kampong Chhnang to break up an otherwise lengthy journey and gain insight into the art of pottery-making at local workshops. Afterward, proceed to Phnom Penh. The capital city of Cambodia is situated at a significant intersection of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers and is home to several exceptional examples of French-inspired architecture.

Day 7:  Phnom Penh

Your full-day exploration begins with an essential visit to two significant historical sites that offer profound insights into Cambodia’s recent past: the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21) and the Memorial at Choeung Ek.
